About Camera & Kit Paris
Camera and Kit Paris is an offbeat bohemian Parisienne adventure in travel, film, nostalgia, beauty, and emotive photography. My camera is my sidekick as I take you on a romantic stroll across the streets of Paris. You are invited to be my adventurous co-conspirators on a journey that began for me when I first visited Paris in 2001. I was instantly smitten with the city, and since 2005 I travel to Paris multiple times a year for amour, friends, shopping, to study and well, for the occasional man.
I adore photography. I do. To quote Vilem Flusser in a roundabout sort of way, "we see the world through photographs", and that's what I do. See Paris through photographs.
For me, it’s all about capturing the moment, the feeling of Paris – there’s no staging and no re-runs. It's wholly free-spirited and relaxed.
I am unique in the wedding and portrait industry.
In addition to my extensive experience as a wedding photographer, I am an award-winning and published photographer, and I hold a Masters Degree in Digital Photography with other university qualifications in curating, archiving and conservation plus graphic design and bookbinding, and I am currently a Doctoral Research student undertaking a PhD in photography.
Well, so what does this mean to you? It means that I offer more than just a photo shoot in Paris. It's a city break, an experience, a romantic adventure that begins from the moment we plan your shoot to when you step on to the train at St Pancras.
For our signature package we meet pre-shoot and have a conversation about you as a couple, and what you want; from this shoot, we then create a detailed itinerary of your day. We meet you as you arrive at Gard Du Nord and take you to your hotel, the Hotel Amour. You have the rest of the day to get lost in Paris, the next day is when we get creative. We then lead you on a photographic adventure across Paris, weaving the streets from the right bank to the left. My camera as my partner in crime as we stroll the authentic streets of Paris, the Paris that I have come to know and the Paris that the locals know that makes for a stunning and non-touristy backdrop to your photos.
Henry Miller once said of Paris - To know Paris is to know a great deal and I have an extensive knowledge of Paris, I avoid the clichés that have become the signature background of Paris photo shoots, we begin in the bohemian artistic back streets of Montmartre and make our way through the chic streets of La Madeleine, across to the Paris of Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre in Saint Germain Des Pres, to the glorious maze of market stalls of the Marais in the 3rd arrondissement, strolling the bourgeoisie parks of Paris and ending up at the Eiffel Tower. The next day is yours, before heading home on an evening train.
